Simple Whole Roasted Chicken


 

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken

  • 1 tbs onion powder

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1 tbs butter

  • 1 stalk celery

Step 1

Pre-heat oven to 175 °C (350 °F). Remove giblets and trimmings from chicken cavity. Let chicken and butter stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.


Step 2

Sprinkle the inside and outside of chicken with onion powder, as well as a pinch of salt and pepper.


Cut celery into 3 or 4 pieces and place inside the chicken cavity. Optional: use kitchen twine to bring chicken legs forward and tie together.

Place chicken in the oven and bake for 1.5 hours, making sure to bring internal temperature to at least 82 °C (180 °F).


Step 5

Remove from heat and baste with melted butter and drippings. Let rest for 30 minutes before serving.
